Frequently Asked Questions

What is a freezer spacer?

A freezer spacer (also called a separator) is a rigid, open-profile panel placed between layers of palletised products during freezing, chilling and tempering. The openings in the panel create controlled airflow channels so cold air can move between the layers instead of only around the outside of the pallet.

How do freezer spacers improve freezing?

By letting cold air flow across and through the pallet stack, spacers help products reach the required temperature faster and more evenly. This reduces freezing, chilling and tempering times, lowers energy consumption and reduces the risk of partial freezing and warm spots.

How many freezer spacers do I need per pallet?

The number depends on the height of your stack and the products being frozen. As a guide, one spacer is placed between each layer of product, so a pallet with five layers of boxes would typically use four spacers. Contact us with your layer height and load details and we will advise on the best arrangement.

What are easyFLO Freezer Spacers made of?

easyFLO Freezer Spacers are manufactured in South Africa from quality, durable reprocessed HDPE (high-density polyethylene) and are supplied in black.

What is the size and load capacity of each spacer?

The standard easyFLO Freezer Spacer measures 1200 mm long, 1000 mm wide and 55 mm high, weighs approximately 4.4 kg and is rated for loads of up to 2000kg evenly distributed.

What temperature range can the spacers handle?

easyFLO Freezer Spacers operate reliably from –50°C to +90°C, making them suitable for blast freezing, chilling and tempering applications.

Are the spacers reusable and easy to clean?

Yes. easyFLO Freezer Spacers are washable and reusable, helping reduce ongoing packaging and racking costs while supporting good hygiene practices in cold stores and food-processing facilities.

Where are easyFLO Freezer Spacers supplied?
